We don’t use fists!

We love reading Deutsche Welle’s Word of the Week. They always come up with such funny and quirky German words.

Would you know how to explain the German word ‘Faustregel’ to an English speaker? If you need help, read Deutsche Welle’s article here. And remember that we don’t call it a ‘fist rule’, we say it’s a ‘rule of the thumb’.

For example:

“A good rule of thumb is to include no more than two or three new ideas in any one training session.”
